BLACK TEACHERS MATTER, Inc.
A NONPROFIT 501(c)3 ADVOCACY ORGANIZATION OF BLACK EDUCATORS
ABOUT US
Black Teachers Matter, Inc. is a Boston based national nonprofit 501c3 educational advocacy organization.
WE AMPLIFY!
We are organized to amplify the importance of Black Teachers as educators, role models, and advocates that help students feel connected to their schools.
We are organized to amplify how Black Teachers are more likely to be able to enhance cultural understanding among Black, Latino, Asian, Native American, and white colleagues, teachers, and students acting as warm demanders. We amplify how Black Teachers more frequently hold high expectations for all students and use connections with students to establish structured classroom discipline at the Elementary, middle, Jr. High, High School, and college/university levels.
We are organized to amplify partnerships with educators, parents, students, policymakers, civic, college and university, and business leaders in providing practical technical assistance in their efforts to transform schools and colleges into institutions that serve all students effectively.
We are organized to amplify and actively work to shape and influence national, state, and local educational policy, bringing lessons learned from the on-the-ground work and best practices of Black Teachers at every level of education to help all students reach their own highest levels of achievement.
We are organized to amplify the need to recruit more Black Teachers not only to get us in the door but to also pay equal attention to creating the conditions to hire and retain us.

OUR
MISSION
Black Teachers Matter will become a leading voice in Massachusetts and the United States amplifying and advocating for the importance of diversifying the nation’s public, charter, and private teaching force.
We are organized to amplify the importance of Black Teachers as educators, role models, and advocates while enticing young Black Americans into teaching and
building on the proud history of black educational excellence.
We work in the larger education and social justice movement with the aim of advancing positive outcomes that improve the lives of those who are historically underserved, including Black students, Latino students, Indigenous students, and students from low-income families.
